I Shouldn't Even Be Doing This! by Bob Newhart *** The title is based on the old joke about a man and woman having a torrid extramarital affair. While making passionate love the woman says, "Kiss me! Kiss me!" To this the man replies, "Are you kidding? I shouldn't even be doing this!" Perfect for Bob Newhart. I happen to think Bob Newhart is one of the funniest men on the planet and watched his shows even when I was a little kid. His brand of comedy is one of a kind. This book is not so much an autobiography as it is a series of little stories about his life. You do get a general sense of the major events of his life but it is more just little vignettes about various aspects of comedy and his career. Sprinkled in are several of his old stand-up telephone conversations. If you can picture Bob performing them, pausing and stammering, you'll laugh out loud. A fun little book that you can read in a couple of nights while watching television.
